Things To Consider When Planning Your Honeymoon

After the ceremony, you and the groom will be jetting off to the location of your dreams, basking in the sun or swishing down the slopes. But no matter where you are going, there are some honeymoon preparations that you may not think of when you are buying the tickets.

Of course, reservations for plane flights and hotel rooms are necessary. You should use a travel agent who is experienced to help plan all these details. They can also recommend any local sites or activities should you want to ever leave your room.

But beyond these basics, there are some other things you will want to do before the rice is thrown and the plane takes off.

First, you will need a trousseau. This is the bride’s honeymoon wardrobe. You will need a going away outfit for after the reception, plus some comfortable shoes for traipsing through the airport.

You will need some outfits for your destination too. Bikinis and flip flops for the beach, plus a matching sarong and wide brimmed hat. Or you may want a great fitting pair of ski pants and a faux fur hat for the mountains. If you are traveling abroad, don’t forget the comfy walking shoes for those days of site seeing.

In your trousseau is also any lingerie that you get for your bridal shower or on your own. You will also want some other items, such as sunscreen, bug repellent, or shea butter lotion.

Once you have your trousseau, you will need to update your passport for trips to other countries. Check with your bank and get some money in the local currency so you’ll be ready when you land. Also exchange most of your spending money into traveler’s checks and keep the numbers in a safe location, both in your bags and at home.

Arrange for a pet sitter if necessary. Kennels are often booked months in advance. And ask a friend to take in your mail and newspaper, plus water your plants.

Always confirm your reservations a month in advance and again a week in advance. Between airline changes and computer glitches, there is always a chance that your reservations are not there, so double and then triple check before you go.
