Speeches and the wedding toast bring life to wedding festivities. They add to the occasion’s joy, and give the bride and the groom a chance to thank the guests, their friends and parents. The guests too look forward to the wedding speeches, especially if they are well delivered.

Most grooms take the wedding speeches very seriously. They spend hours writing and rehearsing their speech. Many of them even refer to books to get ideas. A few, enterprising entrepreneurs have even set up websites that sell wedding speeches. Those who don’t want to buy speeches visit free sites to obtain tips on wedding speeches and wedding toasts.

It is not only the grooms who struggle with wedding speeches or with the thought of proposing the wedding toast. The Best Man too faces a similar quandary. He would not like to make a fool of himself by stuttering or stammering at the wedding of his best friend. The Maid of Honor is another individual who wants to make an impact. So does the bride’s father.


In most traditional weddings it is the bride’s father who sets the ball rolling by proposing the wedding toast. It is now for the groom to rise to the occasion. The groom realizes that he is the most important man in the room, and that every eye in the room is focused on him with a sense of excitement and anticipation.

So, what should he do? He can’t just stand up and mumble a few words. That’s why it makes sense to be ready for the occasion. He has to seize the opportunity that has come his way, and make an impact. If he is well prepared then he can carry the day. Otherwise, he may be overwhelmed by the occasion. The applause will still follow, but it will be a polite applause. The guests will not be so cruel as to show their amusement. However, for the groom the memories will rank high for a long time.

So, if you want to cherish your wedding moments be ready to deliver a memorable speech followed by a graceful wedding toast. The same applies to the Best Man and the Maid of Honor. Their speeches must add to the festive mood. This will only happen if they are natural, and delivered with grace and poise.
