A Wedding Speech Should Be Short and Sweet

Posted under Wedding Toasts on Saturday 25 February 2006

The dream of every groom is to deliver a wedding speech that sparkles with wit and humor, and has the guests in splits. But at how many weddings do you see this happening? Very few, I am sure.

At most weddings, the speeches are eminently forgettable. At many they bring out yawns, giggles and glances of amusement. The groom invariably becomes too nervous, forgets his cues and makes a hash of an otherwise joyous occasion. The bride’s father may turn too sanctimonious, and bore the guests to death. The best man tries to steal the evening with stale punch lines.

But this does not mean that the wedding speech should be pushed to the sidelines. The wedding speech is important, and must be delivered in style. The guests must remember the wedding speech either for its content or its delivery style.

Avoid Using a Free Wedding Speech Template

Posted under Wedding Toasts on Wednesday 22 February 2006

Those who use free wedding speech templates make a mistake. A wedding speech is something personal. It cannot be bought in the market place or on the net. Those who sell wedding speeches are selling empty words, words that have no relevance to you or your family. Those speeches will sound hollow and meaningless when they are delivered before guests who have known the bride and the groom well.

You will have to write your own wedding speech. The best speeches are those that are made from the heart. This should be your first guiding principle. If you happen to be the bride’s father, then narrate some touching moments from her life that made you feel proud. You will find that such a speech invariably touches a welcome chord among the guests.

If you happen to be the groom then tell the guests how and why you fell in love with the bride. Talk about some pleasant moments that you shared, and what you are looking for in life. If you happen to be the Best Man then you should do justice to your role by talking about the groom. None of this should be offensive or belittling. Rather it should be like a slice of life.

Designer Wedding Gowns

Posted under Wedding Gowns on Wednesday 15 February 2006

The search for the perfect bridal gown can be a long and exhausting one. But it can also be a fun adventure where you are the center of attention and you find the dream dress you were searching for all along. Designer wedding gowns are often the first choice for brides who want quality and fashion.

If you are searching for a designer wedding dress, you might want to start your search online. While there are a million sites devoted to wedding dresses, you will be able to narrow your search with a few keywords. Try searching for designer wedding dress, wedding gowns by designers, or couture wedding dress.

When you get some results, weed out the websites that do not offer a gallery of dresses. You want to use your time wisely and a wedding dress gallery is the way to go. A wedding dress gallery is simply an online picture show of the wedding gown designs available.

Find Free Wedding Speeches and Toasts on the Internet

Posted under Wedding Toasts on Sunday 12 February 2006

There are scores of free wedding speeches and toasts available on the net. These toasts and speeches have been put up to attract brides and grooms. More often than not, the free speeches and toasts are limited to a few samples only. The bride and the groom or the Best Man is then asked to visit the paid section to get the best speeches.

This is not a bad ploy because it drives targeted traffic to these sites. The visitors are the bride or the groom, the bride’s father, the Best Man or the Maid of Honor. Each one of them wants to get their wedding speech ready in time. None of them wants to make a fool of themselves before guests, and visit these sites in the hope of getting model speeches and toasts.

The site owners take full advantage of this wedding need. They write keywords that use the word free with wedding speeches, toasts, bride and groom, repeatedly. These keywords are copied and saved by search engine spiders. When a harassed father or an anxious Best Man searches for suitable speeches or toasts he is directed to these sites.

Giving a Best Man Wedding Speech Can Be Tough

Posted under Wedding Toasts on Wednesday 8 February 2006

The Best Man wedding speech is not an easy speech to deliver. This is because it follows the wedding speeches made by the bride’s father and the groom. If the two happen to be good speakers then the Best Man has to rise to a new level to hold the attention of the guests. If the two speakers have disappointed the guests with their dull speeches then they would like the Best Man to wind up his speech quickly so that everyone can proceed to the bar.

There is also one more difficulty that the Best Man faces when he rises to deliver the wedding speech. This arises from the fact that the Best man is an outsider. Only the groom and the bride, and the immediate family, knows him. The rest of the family or friends would be meeting him for the first time. So, the Best Man Wedding Speech has to be something special to capture everyone’s attention.

Invariably the Best Man wedding speech includes some interesting anecdotes about the groom, his personal qualities, their relationship etc. He may also tell the guest how the couple met, and maybe some interesting nuggets about the two. The Best Man also thanks the groom for his speech on behalf of the ushers, bridesmaids, and other helpers.
