Give a Unique Wedding Shower Gift

Posted under Wedding Gifts on Thursday 22 December 2005

Wedding shower gifts can be as unique as the recipient. The shower organizer should consider the personality, style and interests of the bride when planning the party. With a wedding shower theme that fits the unique qualities of the bride, shower guests will be prompted to use their imaginations to brainstorm creative gift ideas.

Love of the Outdoors

For the outdoorsy bride-to-be, organize an adventurous shower activity such as mountain biking, rock climbing or camping. Unique wedding shower gifts could include items such as a cozy tent, a sleeping bag for two, and a book on romantic outdoor getaways.

Wedding Bands: The Perfect Fit

Posted under Wedding Rings on Wednesday 21 December 2005

The wedding band is perhaps the most important piece of jewelry worn in life. Symbolic of the bride and groom’s commitment to each other, wedding bands are exchanged as part of the marriage ceremony witnessed by family and friends. Unlike other pieces of jewelry, wedding bands are worn every moment of every day. Therefore, it is essential that a wedding band is comfortable and compatible with a couple’s sense of style.

The bride and groom-to-be should spend time viewing and researching band styles and materials prior to making a final decision. By browsing jewelry stores and Internet sites, couples can gain a sense of their likes and dislikes.

Wedding Band Materials

Wedding bands are traditionally made of gold, white gold or platinum. If a couple chooses gold bands, they should select 14k or 18k gold for sufficient quality and durability. Another less expensive choice for men’s bands is titanium. Bands may be embellished with special finishes or engraved patterns to reflect individual tastes. Diamonds or other precious stones may also be incorporated into the design.

Wedding Gifts for Every Bride and Groom

Posted under Wedding Gifts on Tuesday 20 December 2005

After receiving the announcement, most guests turn immediately to the question of wedding gifts. What does the engaged couple need to start their life together? Where are they registered? What if this is a second (or third, fourth, etc.) marriage?

Registry Services

Invited friends and loved ones may first wish to consider the couple’s wedding registry for gift ideas. Guests can find out where the couple is registered by contacting the parents or close family members of the bride or groom. Most wedding registries are accessible online for easy ordering and shipping. Also, registries can provide you with an up-to-date account of what has been already purchased by other guests and well-wishers. Even if guests intend to choose a present on their own, it may be helpful to review registry sites for recommendations of popular wedding gifts.

Diamond Engagement Rings: Making Your Selection

Posted under Wedding Rings on Sunday 18 December 2005

When you’ve found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, selecting an engagement ring can seem a daunting, yet necessary, task. Diamonds are a classic and traditional choice for such rings. However, with numerous color, size and appearance options available, how does a hopeful groom select the perfect diamond engagement ring for his bride-to-be?

Style

Men should be conscious of his significant other’s taste and lifestyle when choosing an engagement ring. Is she formal or casual? Does she prefer large accessories or dainty pieces? Is she active or sedentary? Does she own mostly gold or silver-colored jewelry? All of these factors should be evaluated before selecting an engagement ring.

An engagement ring should match the personality of its owner. A woman who throws on jeans and a t-shirt every day may want an attractive yet simple ring to go with her easy lifestyle, whereas a formal dresser would likely prefer a more dramatic ring with a larger diamond. Active brides-to-be may value comfort over a cumbersome stone that may be easily damaged. A woman who wears mostly silver jewelry might prefer a platinum or white gold setting to coordinate with her existing accessories.

Site changes and updates.

Posted under Wedding Misc on Monday 5 December 2005

You may have noticed some changes to this site.

Basically, the site has been converted to a blog format. I think this will add much more value to the site. Here are some examples:

  • Now there will be a related articles function. (View an article on “Writing Wedding Vows” and see all articles related to that.)
  • New Article Categories allow you to view all articles centered around that category. (Click the Wedding Invitations category and see only posts about Wedding Invitations.)
  • New “Tell a Friend” feature. Know someone that might find a certain article useful, well, with a couple clicks you can send it to them.
  • Comments. We love hearing from you guys on what you think and how we’re doing. Don’t hesitate to leave a comment!
  • Site now available in RSS feed readers.
  • Plus there are many more great features that will be seen in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
