Renewing Wedding Vows is a Matter of Choice

Posted under Wedding Vows on Friday 25 January 2008

Every couple reaching middle age can look at the possibility of renewing wedding vows. It’s a great way to say I love you. The excitement lies not only in reciting the vows but in planning for the event. It sends the couple on a nostalgia trip, where they may want to recreate the magic of their marriage again.

The ceremony gives them a reason to look back and see where they failed as husband and wife, and to atone for those failures by renewing their wedding vows. The chances are that the wedding will become stronger.

The excitement starts with the fixing of date. The couple now has to get an invitation card printed, decide the guest list and decide the venue. The key decision is: should the ceremony be a replica of the wedding or should it be different?

Renewal of Wedding Vows Can Recreate the Magic of Marriage

Posted under Wedding Vows on Wednesday 30 August 2006

The renewal of wedding vows is more than a ceremony. It is a fresh commitment from man and wife to make the marriage stronger. More than that, it is a great way to look back, reflect on what has gone by, and stand up and say that we want more of it — together.

The renewal of vows is purely a personal affair. It is neither required by the church nor by the government. Yet, there are millions of couples who want to repeat their wedding vows. Each couple has its own reasons, the most common reasons being:

Lesbian Wedding Vows Speak of Pain and Triumph

Posted under Wedding Vows on Sunday 30 July 2006

Lesbian wedding vows are a great expression of commitment and desire. They are written by a couple who want the world to know the strength and sincerity of their love. They have very few models that they can use to write their wedding vows. The few that are available on the net may not be enough for these couples who defy tradition, and redefine social values.

Most lesbians hate to be referred to as husband and wife, and also do not like the word marriage for its heterosexual connotations. Their vows speak of lifelong union between partners or spouses. More often than not, the partners sit together and draft the wedding vows. They pore over each word, and study the meaning and impact of each pledge. That is why there is far more passion and fire in these vows than traditional vows.

Many lesbians even use the vows to make a personal statement regarding the pain they went through before they could stand together and be joined in a union. They express the hope that many more couples like them will summon the necessary courage, and enter into a union. There is a deep undercurrent of personal pain and triumph, hopes and anguish in lesbian vows.

There are scores of websites where one can access free wedding toasts. These toasts have been collected and posted by good Samaritans to help the bride and the groom, not to forget the Best Man. Most of these toasts have been beaten to death by overuse. But they are still fun to read. Here are some free toasts that have been made in the name of Bride and Groom at numerous weddings:

Marriage is a community consisting of a master, a mistress, and two slaves - making in all, two.

May we all be invited to your golden wedding celebrations.

Here’s to the groom with bride so fair, And here’s to the bride with groom so rare!

May the most you wish for be the least you get.

Happy marriages begin when we marry the one we love, and they blossom when we love the one we married.

May all your ups and downs come only in the bedroom.

Posted under Wedding Gowns on Friday 26 May 2006

For the plus size bride, the search for a wedding dress used to be a bit more difficult. However, today, as the world of fashion realizes that the average sized woman is a size twelve, the availability of beautiful plus size wedding dresses is on the rise. You should be able to find something that is both lovely and well fitting.

The first place to look in online. If you do a search for plus size wedding gowns or wedding dresses plus size, you will get a huge list of potential websites that offer either information on wedding dresses, wedding dress galleries, or links to designers who work with plus size dresses.

It is a good idea to write down the names of the designers that specialize in plus size dresses. You may also find wedding dress designers that offer a line especially for plus size brides. Write these names down and see if you can find the retail locations that offer these lines. If you cannot, you can use the name list to call local bridal shops and ask if they carry the designers you are interested in.
